Become A Youth Advocate
The role of Youth Advocate may be perfect for you! To ensure sustainability of the youth’s life plan and to manage the ongoing opportunities in the areas of employment, education and housing, students in the 12-week program will be matched with a team of 5-7 advocates. For the first year, each advocate has a minimum of monthly contact with at least one student to encourage and support the problem-solving skills and tools acquired during the coaching program. ODBF’s model encourages the youth to call upon their advocates for as long as the youth chooses. Advocates are required to attend the final class and at least three other classes during the 12-week program to establish rapport with the youth.
